Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) has received a $70,000 grant from the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation, according to Headmaster Lindsay Barnes.
The grant was used to purchase two buses that will transport HPA students to their many off-campus activities.
“This generous grant by the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation could not come at a more opportune time,” said Barnes.
“The grant will contribute greatly to the safety of our student transportation operations and enhance our educational program as we offer our young people opportunities to participate in many events and activities around the island on a weekly basis. We extend our deepest appreciation to everyone connected with the (foundation).”
“We are proud to be supporting HPA’s efforts to provide its students with access to educational opportunities in the community,” said Bob Harrison, FHB president and chief operating officer.
“There is a great deal of learning done outside of a traditional classroom setting that can have a very positive effect on a child’s education.”
